I have been proofreading and copy editing documents of all kinds for over fifteen years, including academic, technical, and corporate writing. I have worked on a number of books and PhDs, as well as countless shorter documents such as reports, funding applications, essays, presentations, websites, and marketing campaigns. I also have eight years’ experience as a professional writer, creating over four hundred high-impact blog posts and assignments for edtech startups.

I offer both proofreading (making corrections to a text) and copy editing (rewriting parts of a text to improve it). Proofreading is an essential step in the composition of any important document, and having a fresh pair of eyes on your text can catch embarrassing errors before you come to submit, present, or publish it.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly will I get my work back?

I will provide an estimated completion time when we begin. As a guide, a standard proofread takes about an hour per 4,000 words, while a heavy proofread takes about an hour per 2,000 words.

What if I need my work back more quickly?

This is usually possible. A rush fee of 25% will be applied to your invoice.

Can you apply my style guide?

Absolutely! Bear in mind that this will add extra time to the process.

Can you work in both British and American English?

Yes. I can also adapt style guides for British and American spelling conventions.

Will you check my footnotes and quotations?

Yes, and I’ll follow your choice of style guide. However, I won’t be able to check page numbers in references.
